Gary Traubman presents economic development updates at Hot Springs Chamber meeting

In a recent meeting of the Hot Springs Board of Directors, significant strides in economic development and workforce initiatives were highlighted, showcasing the city's commitment to enhancing local opportunities. Gary Traubman, president and CEO of the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, presented an economic development report that underscored the importance of attracting and retaining talent in the area.

One of the standout initiatives discussed was the third annual "draft day," which has become the largest event of its kind in the state. This year, 18 schools and a record 61 companies participated, connecting over 1,200 students with potential career opportunities. Additionally, the board discussed legislative developments, including a bill that would facilitate funding for retail and other projects through Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and Tax Increment Districts (TID). This move is seen as crucial for leveling the playing field with neighboring states and attracting new businesses to the area.

The meeting also celebrated local achievements, such as the successful completion of vocational programs by high school seniors and the awarding of scholarships to students entering the workforce.
