Melville School District Board discusses Prop S updates and summer project completions

The Mehlville School District Board of Education convened on August 21, 2025, to discuss several key updates regarding ongoing projects and facilities improvements. The meeting began with a roll call and the approval of the agenda, which passed unanimously.

Mike Gegg, the director of facilities, provided a comprehensive update on the Prop S projects. He reported that the district is nearing completion of its Prop S initiatives, with significant progress made at Gearbound Phase 2, which is ready for the first day of school. Completed work includes tile installation, flooring, and the installation of countertops and sinks. The playground installation is also underway, with turf expected to arrive by September 15, followed by fencing installation.

Gegg also addressed the ongoing projects at Mosaic Elementary, where Phase 2 of the elevator installation is set to begin soon, pending the acquisition of necessary permits. The completion of this project is scheduled for summer 2026.

In addition to Prop S updates, Gegg reported on summer projects, including roof replacements at Woolen and Washington schools, which are nearing completion. He noted that HVAC upgrades have been successfully completed at five schools, with minor punch list items still being addressed.

The board members engaged in discussions about future HVAC replacements, with plans for Melville High School and Beasley Elementary to undergo upgrades in the coming year.
