The Yorba Linda City Council meeting on August 19, 2025, spotlighted the invaluable contributions of the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) as it celebrated its annual update and recognized dedicated volunteers. Executive Director Bev Lewis presented the report, highlighting the program's critical role in supporting residents in crisis alongside first responders.
TIP, a nonprofit organization with 110 volunteers, has been a lifeline for the community, responding to traumatic incidents 24/7. In the past year alone, TIP volunteers assisted over 11,000 residents across 26 cities and 14 hospitals in Orange County, including 580 residents from Yorba Linda. Lewis emphasized the program's impact, stating, "We provide emotional and practical support... to get them through what is likely to be the worst possible day of their life."
The meeting also honored eight Yorba Linda volunteers, the largest group from any city in Orange County, who collectively contributed nearly 36,000 hours of service. Mayor Lim and council members expressed deep gratitude for their commitment, with Lim stating, "What you do is no short of a miracle... you came in at the darkest hour of their lives."
In addition to recognizing volunteers, the council presented certificates of appreciation from various officials, reinforcing the community's support for TIP's mission. The event underscored the essential partnership between TIP and local emergency services, allowing first responders to focus on their critical roles while ensuring residents receive the emotional support they need during crises.
