Senate Adopts Resolutions Honoring Munson Lions Club and Groveland's 175th Anniversary

The Massachusetts Senate convened on August 25, 2025, to address several resolutions and legislative matters. The session began with the clerk reading a series of resolutions, including congratulations to the Munson Lions Club on its seventieth anniversary and to the town of Groveland on its 175th anniversary. Additionally, resolutions commending Power Forward Inc. for its dedication to addiction recovery were also presented. All resolutions were adopted unanimously.

Following the resolutions, the Senate moved to discuss House Bill 4230, which establishes a sick leave bank for James Caruso, an employee of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The bill was read a third time and passed to be engrossed without opposition.

Next, the Senate addressed House Bill 4139, which authorizes the town of Wellesley to dissolve its housing development corporation. This bill was also ordered to a third reading and subsequently passed to be engrossed.

The session continued with another sick leave bank bill for Carlos Borges, an employee of the Department of Correction, under House Bill 4322. The committee recommended consolidating this bill with Senate Bill 2562. The report was accepted, and the bill was passed to be engrossed.

After a brief recess, the Senate resumed to accept further committee reports and suspended Joint Rule 12 to expedite several petitions. The Senate then considered a bill establishing a charter for the city of Somerville, which was ordered to a third reading.

As the session neared its conclusion, Senator Dooner proposed an order for the Senate to adjourn until the following Thursday, which was adopted without objection. Additionally, Senator Lovely moved to adjourn in memory of Jacqueline Ross Ancoles, who recently passed away from a rare form of bone cancer. The Senate honored her memory before concluding the session.
