Planning Commission Approves 21-Story Lakeside Terrace Multifamily Development

The Flower Mound Planning and Zoning Commission recently approved plans for two significant developments that promise to enhance the community's dining and housing options.

The first project, Sylvan Park, aims to introduce a new restaurant to the area, with discussions highlighting the potential for both quick-service and sit-down dining options. Commissioners expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting the commendable amount of open space included in the design. The motion to approve the site plan passed unanimously, indicating strong support for the initiative, which aims to provide residents with more local dining choices.

In a second major development, the commission reviewed the Lakeside Terrace Multifamily project, which will feature a 21-story residential tower with 163 rental units. Located at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and West Village Parkway, this building is part of the larger Lakeside Village development. The design includes a fully enclosed parking garage and plans for amenities such as a pool deck. The project is expected to take approximately 29 months to complete.

Commissioners raised questions about the building's compliance with fire safety regulations, particularly regarding electric vehicle charging stations and emergency access. The applicant assured the commission that all necessary safety measures would be addressed during the building permit phase.

Both projects reflect Flower Mound's commitment to expanding its residential and commercial offerings, aiming to improve the quality of life for its residents by providing more accessible dining and housing options.
