Battle Ground Pride Event Celebrates LGBTQ Families and Remembers Magician Aaron O'Neil

The Battle Ground School District Board of Directors meeting on August 25, 2025, featured a heartfelt tribute to a local student and magician, Aaron O'Neil, who passed away last June. Jessica, a community member, shared her experience organizing the recent Battle Ground Pride event, highlighting the participation of families from the district, including those with LGBTQ parents and children.

During her remarks, Jessica expressed her excitement about having Aaron, a Battleground High School graduate, perform magic at the event. She noted his passion for magic and his commitment to giving back to the community. Unfortunately, due to his untimely death, he was unable to attend. Jessica emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of families within the district, particularly those from diverse backgrounds.

Eunice Ingermansen, another community member, also addressed the board, introducing herself and her pronouns, further contributing to the inclusive atmosphere of the meeting.

The discussions underscored the district's commitment to supporting all families and fostering a sense of community, particularly for those from marginalized groups. The board's acknowledgment of these sentiments reflects an ongoing effort to create an inclusive environment for all students and families in the Battle Ground School District.
