Board Approves Canyon Engineering for Sewer Master Plan Update

During the recent Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting in Collierville, a significant agenda item focused on the approval of a professional services agreement for updating the town's Sewer Master Plan. Public Utilities Director John Fox presented the proposal, emphasizing the importance of this strategic document in evaluating the existing sewer collection system and planning for future service needs.

The current Sewer Master Plan, which has been in place for over 12 years, no longer accurately reflects the town's conditions. The update aims to address current challenges, plan for the next 20 years of growth, and prioritize necessary investments to ensure efficient and reliable sewer services. The plan will include assessments of infrastructure, hydraulic modeling to identify capacity limitations, and recommendations for system upgrades, all while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Canyon and Canyon Engineering was selected for this project due to their extensive experience with Collierville's infrastructure and their direct access to historical records. Their proposal to complete the update was submitted for $116,640, which is $3,360 under the budgeted amount of $120,000 allocated in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget. Any unused funds will return to the utility fund at the end of the fiscal year.

The approval of this agreement is crucial for maintaining the town's sewer services and preparing for future growth, ensuring that Collierville can continue to provide safe and reliable utility services to its residents.
