McKinney Celebrates Successful Classic Car Show and Upcoming Events

McKinney's vibrant community spirit shone brightly during a recent government meeting, where officials highlighted a successful classic car show that attracted over 157 entries and approximately 3,000 attendees. The event, held downtown, set the stage for an exciting lineup of upcoming activities designed to engage residents and visitors alike.

On August 29, the South Tennessee Block Party and Night Market will kick off a weekend of festivities, followed by a tech-themed scavenger hunt on August 30. This year’s scavenger hunt promises a fresh twist, featuring microchips hidden throughout downtown, with prizes linked to local businesses. Participants can also enjoy an outdoor escape room experience, with a grand prize of $2,500 for the first team to solve all the puzzles.

In addition to these events, McKinney is gearing up for a new art and wine stroll on September 6, in collaboration with Mill House, which will showcase a three-week gallery exhibition. The meeting also touched on preparations for Oktoberfest, set for September 26, where enhancements to the VIP experience and expanded children's activities are in the works.

On the financial front, the finance committee reported that McKinney is on track to meet its budget for the fiscal year, with a record occupancy rate of 72.9% in July. The addition of two new hotels, the AC Marriott and Avid Hotel, is expected to further boost the local economy, projecting an increase in hotel occupancy tax revenue.

As McKinney continues to thrive with community events and strong financial performance, residents can look forward to a lively fall season filled with activities that celebrate the city's unique culture and growth.
