Bountiful City Council Approves SWCA Proposal for 9 Miles of Trail Surveys

The Bountiful City Council convened on August 26, 2025, to discuss several significant projects aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and community resources. These trails will connect the Holbrook Trailhead to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and link Mueller Park Canyon to Holbrook Canyon. The trails will traverse federal land managed by the U.S. Forest Service, necessitating compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The council received two proposals for the survey work, with SWCA offering the lower bid of $21,712. Notably, Bountiful City has secured a grant from the state of Utah's Outdoor Recreation Initiative Grant Program, which will reimburse 75% of the survey costs. The council unanimously approved the proposal, marking a significant step forward in the trails implementation plan.

In addition to the trails discussion, the council considered the urgent need to rebuild a small pavilion in Fourth North Park. The pavilion, which has suffered from water damage, requires immediate attention to prevent it from being taken out of service. The proposed rebuild, estimated at $34,712, was presented by the parks department, which emphasized the pavilion's importance for community events. The council approved the rebuild, recognizing its value for local festivals and gatherings.

The meeting also addressed the Echo Transmission Line project, where the council approved a bid from Wasatch Electric for $179,138 to replace insulators and cross arms. This proactive measure aims to prevent future issues, particularly following a recent fire in the area. The work is scheduled to begin in mid-October.
