Madison County Fiscal Court Approves Crutcher Pike Bridge Replacement Resolution

In a recent Madison County Fiscal Court meeting, officials discussed significant infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing road safety and accessibility for residents. One of the key topics was the decision to widen a road to a standard 20-foot width, which is required under subdivision regulations. This expansion is expected to improve traffic flow and safety, particularly as increased development in the area is anticipated to elevate traffic levels.

Scott Lockmiller, a member of the court, emphasized the importance of this project, stating that a wider road would create a safer environment for all users. While specific investment figures were not disclosed during the meeting, Lockmiller indicated that estimates were available for review.

Another major agenda item was the approval of Resolution 2025-079, which pertains to the replacement of a bridge on Crutcher Pike. This resolution allows Madison County to enter into an agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which will reimburse the county for up to 80% of the project costs, capped at $32,600. The county will be responsible for the remaining 20%.

The bridge replacement is urgent, as inspections have revealed that the current structure can only support a maximum load of three tons, barely sufficient for a school bus. Failure to act could result in the bridge being closed next year, further complicating traffic patterns in the area. The new bridge will feature updated beams, concrete decking, and guardrails, similar to previous projects completed in the vicinity.
