Laredo ISD hosts back to school bash with Molina Healthcare and Imagine Dental

The Laredo Independent School District (LISD) held a special meeting on August 26, 2025, focusing on several key community initiatives and events aimed at supporting students and families as the new school year approaches.

The meeting began with a highlight of the recent Back to School Bash, organized in collaboration with Molina Healthcare and Imagine Dental. This event successfully attracted over 700 attendees, providing essential resources such as backpacks, school supplies, health screenings, and immunizations. Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, Maggie Martinez, emphasized the importance of the event for families facing financial challenges, expressing gratitude for the partnerships that made the event possible.

Following this, the meeting addressed the leadership camp held for the Morgan High School band at San Francisco Javier Church. The camp aimed to develop leadership skills among selected sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Band Director Robert Castro shared insights into the camp's activities, which focused on fostering leadership qualities and preparing students for the upcoming school year. Students expressed their appreciation for the experience, noting its impact on their personal growth and ability to collaborate with peers.

The meeting also covered a scholarship ceremony hosted by LULAC, where 63 scholarships totaling $31,500 were awarded to deserving Webb County students at the Laredo ISD Performing Arts Center. This initiative was recognized as a significant contribution to supporting local students in their educational pursuits.

Additionally, LISD held a convocation for coaches and athletic trainers at the Vidar in Trevino Auditorium. Athletic Director Luzus Camilla reported that approximately 150 coaches and six athletic trainers attended the event, which focused on reflecting on past accomplishments and discussing new initiatives and policy changes for the upcoming school year.
