Mayor Porter Proclaims National Payroll Week in Wylie Texas September 2025

Wylie City Council celebrated National Payroll Week during its recent meeting, highlighting the essential role payroll professionals play in the community. Mayor Matthew Porter proclaimed September 2025 as National Payroll Week in Wylie, emphasizing the importance of payroll workers in managing wages, taxes, and benefits that impact daily lives.

Jackie Carroll, immediate past president of the Dallas chapter of the payroll organization, addressed the council, underscoring the complexities of payroll beyond just issuing paychecks. She noted that payroll professionals ensure compliance with federal laws and maintain the economic health of Wylie by managing unemployment insurance and child support enforcement.

The proclamation recognized that payroll professionals contribute significantly to the U.S. Treasury, collecting and reporting 70% of its annual revenue. Mayor Porter urged citizens to acknowledge the vital contributions of these professionals, stating, "America works because we're working for America."

In addition to the proclamation, the city presented a certificate for a free virtual meeting to Michelle Ribeiro and her staff, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. The meeting concluded with a reminder for public participation, allowing citizens to address the council on non-agenda items.
