Jackson Shaw outlines $100M Denton business park project with significant tax revenue impact

A proposed business park project in Denton is set to make a significant economic impact, as developers from Jackson Shaw presented their plans to the Planning and Zoning Commission on August 27. The project, located near I-35, aims to create a modern business environment with enhanced design features and a focus on community engagement.

Miles Terry, representing Jackson Shaw, outlined the project’s vision, which includes two phases of development totaling over 900,000 square feet. The first phase is expected to be completed by 2027, with the second phase following in 2029. Terry emphasized the importance of elevated design, stating that the buildings will feature more glass and thoughtful landscaping, aiming to blend seamlessly into the community.

The economic benefits of the project are substantial. According to an analysis by Petit Economic Development, the completed business park could generate approximately $39 million in tax revenue for the city over 25 years, with an estimated appraised value of $100 million upon completion. Additionally, the project is projected to create around 616 jobs, with an average salary of $63,000, contributing to the local economy.

Commissioners expressed enthusiasm about the project, with Commissioner McDuff highlighting its potential as a gateway to enhance Denton's public image. The idea of incorporating a fountain as a welcoming feature was also discussed, reflecting the developers' commitment to community aesthetics.
