Long Beach Airport Plans September Air Show and Cancels Monthly Meeting

The Leesburg Airport Commission has made significant strides in preparing for the upcoming air show scheduled for September 27, 2025, as discussed in their recent meeting. The commission confirmed that the event will feature a variety of aircraft, including the anticipated Berlin Airlift C-4, which will arrive two weeks prior to the show. This year’s air show is expected to attract over 10,000 attendees, similar to last year's turnout.

In addition to the air show preparations, the commission addressed ongoing noise complaints, revealing that 95% of these complaints originated from a single residence. The commission is actively working to manage noise levels, particularly during early morning operations, and has reminded operators to adhere to noise regulations.

The meeting also included logistical discussions regarding the air show, such as relocating aircraft from the main ramp to ensure safety and accessibility. A new traffic flow plan will be implemented, making the road in front of the airport one-way to facilitate bus traffic during the event. Airport officials emphasized the importance of notifying pilots about the runway closure, which will occur at 11 AM on the day of the air show, to avoid congestion.

In a procedural decision, the commission voted to cancel the September meeting due to the proximity of the air show, with the next meeting scheduled for October 8, 2025. The commission also highlighted community engagement initiatives, including an airport story time event planned for October 6, which aims to involve local families.
