Hill Haven Proposal Seeks Expansion of Nursing Home by 36 Beds in Maryland

The existing nursing home, which has a strong reputation and a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is currently underutilized, with much of its space being used for storage. The proposed expansion is designed not only to increase capacity but also to enhance the quality of care by providing modern amenities and a more efficient layout that integrates with the current facility.

Mr. Kagan, representing Hill Haven S and F Realty, LLC, emphasized the importance of this expansion in light of the increasing demand for elderly care, particularly for private rooms, which have become more desirable since the COVID-19 pandemic. The new layout is expected to improve the flow of services within the facility, allowing for better dining and therapy options for residents.

The hearing also included a review of the technical staff report from the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, which endorsed the application. Mr. Kagan confirmed his agreement with the conditions outlined in the report, indicating a commitment to meet the necessary requirements for approval.
