Tamarac Mayor Proclaims National Diaper Needs Awareness Week and Overdose Awareness Day

The City of Tamarac is taking significant steps to address pressing community issues, as highlighted in a recent government meeting. Mayor Michelle J. Gomez proclaimed the week of September 15 through September 25, 2025, as National Diaper Needs Awareness Week, emphasizing the critical need for clean diapers among families in the area.

During the meeting, representatives from the Greater Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank shared alarming statistics: nearly half of families struggle with diaper needs, often delaying changes to extend their supply. This shortage not only affects the health of infants but also impacts parents' ability to work, with many missing an average of five days of work each month due to insufficient diapers. The mayor urged residents to support local diaper banks and drives, recognizing their vital role in promoting health and economic stability for families.
