Tamarac City Hall Celebrates Employee Service Awards and New Sustainability Program Launch

The Tamarac City Commission meeting held on August 27, 2025, commenced with a focus on community engagement and recognition of city employees. The meeting began with a discussion on the importance of education and information dissemination to enhance public safety, emphasizing that awareness is crucial for saving lives.

Following this, the City Manager led a segment dedicated to honoring long-serving employees. Notable recognitions included Elianne Benjamin for five years of service, Todd Cooper and Kim Dolan for ten years, Rafael Diaz for ten years, Simi for twenty years, and Rocio Goode for twenty-five years. The City Manager expressed gratitude for their contributions and encouraged them to take photographs outside after the ceremony.

The meeting then transitioned to significant achievements, with the City of Tamarac being awarded the 2025 Mayor's Municipal Innovation Award in Service Delivery Improvement from the Florida League of Mayors. This award marks the third consecutive year Tamarac has received this honor, recognizing the city’s implementation of the Amazon Connect Omnichannel Call Center Solution, which has improved municipal service delivery and citizen satisfaction.

The City Manager also announced the upcoming retirement of Fire Chief Mike Anisi, who has served the city for 27 years. His leadership and dedication were acknowledged, and plans for a celebration of his service were mentioned. Additionally, the meeting introduced Captain David Franks as the new BSO Captain for Tamarac, inviting the community to a reception on September 10 to welcome him.

In a move towards sustainability, the city is launching its first sustainability program on September 3, encouraging residents to participate in a survey to prioritize green initiatives. The City Manager reported an emergency purchase of $127,180.90 for the modernization of the City Hall elevator, which has been out of service due to parts shortages.

Upcoming community events were highlighted, including a webinar on living with coyotes, a dining event with BSO, and a Hispanic Heritage Concert. The meeting concluded with a call for public participation, where residents voiced concerns, including issues with the Broward Sheriff's Office response times.
