Citizens Support Tax Initiative to Address State Budget Shortfalls

The discussion also touched on the potential for litigation regarding recent legislative proposals, particularly concerning the unclaimed property trust fund. However, it was confirmed that the controversial plan to utilize these funds has been withdrawn, with a new strategy focusing on selling tax credits to raise necessary funds for health insurance programs.

As the county gears up for the upcoming legislative session, officials emphasized the importance of engaging with organizations like the Colorado Counties, Inc. (CCI) to advocate for local interests and ensure that Lake County's unique challenges are represented.
