San Diego Rescue Mission updates on housing readiness and new clinical services

The Standing Committee on Homelessness convened on August 28, 2025, in Vista, San Diego County, to discuss ongoing initiatives and updates related to homelessness in the community. Caitlin Jason, a new associate social worker, was introduced to the committee. She brings experience from the San Diego Rescue Mission and has a background in working with high-acuity individuals, including those facing severe mental health challenges and substance use issues. Jason emphasized the need for a collaborative approach among service providers to address the complex needs of clients, advocating for wraparound services rather than temporary fixes.

The meeting also addressed the importance of maintaining an updated roster of service providers to ensure the committee has a clear understanding of available resources. Kenneth Tolbert, a data specialist from the San Diego Rescue Mission, presented a report indicating that there were 125 unduplicated clients served in July, highlighting the ongoing demand for services.
