Bexar County Donates $3,000 in Gift Cards to American Red Cross Relief for Flood Victims

In a recent meeting of the Bexar County Commissioners Court, significant strides were made in supporting local disaster relief efforts. The court presented nearly $3,000 in gift cards to the American Red Cross, a contribution aimed at aiding flood victims in the area. This initiative highlights the community's commitment to recovery and support for those affected by recent disasters.

Dr. Daniel Martinez from the American Red Cross expressed gratitude for the court's ongoing support, noting that this is part of a larger effort that includes previous donations, such as over $5,340 from the tax assessor collector's office. The collaboration extended beyond government offices, with local citizens and organizations, including the Lineberger law firm, contributing to the cause. Together, they collected a trailer full of clothes and donated over 5,000 pounds of food to the local food bank.

Dr. Martinez emphasized the importance of these efforts, particularly in establishing a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) in partnership with Goodwill and other nonprofits. This center serves as a one-stop shop for individuals impacted by disasters, streamlining access to essential services and support.
