San Antonio Development Services Reviews 2026 Budget and Team Updates

During a recent special session of the San Antonio City Council, Development Services Director Alington Mas presented the proposed budget for 2026, emphasizing the department's commitment to creating a safe and thriving community. Mas highlighted the department's mission to partner with the community in building and maintaining a secure San Antonio, where residents can live, work, and play safely.

Mas proudly noted that Development Services has received numerous accolades, including the highest accreditation rating from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) since 2022. This recognition underscores the department's excellence in implementing safety codes and managing permits, making it one of the top-rated services in Texas.

The meeting also introduced key personnel changes within the department. Melissa Ramírez was appointed as the new Field Services Director, overseeing building inspections and proactive inspection teams. Cristal González, the Assistant Director of Plan Review, will manage plan reviews and permit issuance, while Logants Barroes will focus on land development and zoning policies.

Mas explained the department's budget structure, which includes a general fund for code implementation and a business fund for necessary expenses. This flexible budgeting approach allows the department to adjust its team size according to budgetary needs, ensuring efficient use of resources.
