Pleasant Grove Council Approves Soda Manufacturing Plant in BMP Zone

The applicant, represented by Jacob Busby from Keystone Copac Manufacturing, outlined plans to expand their business by incorporating liquid products, including health-focused beverages. Currently, the company specializes in powder manufacturing for clients like Just Ingredients. Busby expressed enthusiasm about the potential growth and community integration in Pleasant Grove, noting their recent relocation from Linden.

City officials explained that the proposed soda manufacturing use was not initially permitted under current zoning regulations. However, following a review by the planning commission, a unanimous recommendation for approval was made, deeming the use compatible with the existing zoning. This recommendation was presented to the council for final approval.

During the public hearing, no additional comments were made by community members, leading to a swift closure of the session. Council members then deliberated on the proposed ordinance, which aimed to amend the zoning code to include bottling and canning of soft drinks and carbonated waters as permitted uses in the business and manufacturing park zone.

A motion was made by Council Member Williams and seconded by Council Member Limon to approve the ordinance. The council voted unanimously in favor, allowing the new use to be officially recognized within the BMP zone.
