Board Approves Hearings for Kaka'ako Mauka Area Rules Amendment

During the meeting on September 4, 2025, the board voted to consider changing the maximum floor area ratio from 3.5 to 1.5, a move intended to better align development with the neighborhood's infrastructure capabilities.

The decision follows a recent town hall meeting that drew significant community interest, with 125 attendees expressing their views on local development issues. However, only a handful of residents were present at the HCDA meeting, highlighting the challenges of community engagement during working hours.
