Residents Urge Canfield City Council to Assist with Traffic Sign Costs for Noise Relief

During the recent Canfield City Council meeting held on September 3, 2025, residents voiced their concerns regarding noise pollution from traffic, particularly near the Route 11 exit ramp, which is located in the township and managed by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). One resident, Dave Kenny, emphasized that the noise levels have become unbearable, likening the sound of trucks to "machine guns" and "jet engines." He pointed out that while the township is responsible for the area, they have been reluctant to invest in solutions, such as installing noise mitigation signs. Kenny proposed that the city collaborate with the township to fund the installation of six signs, which would cost approximately $1,850. He argued that this investment is minimal compared to the quality of life improvements it could bring to the community.

They expressed a willingness to explore potential partnerships with the township to address the issue.
