Tamarac Commission Approves Woodmont's 50-Unit Residential Development Plan

Tamarac's Planning Board has approved a significant development project that will transform a former golf course site into a residential community. The resolution, passed during the September 3, 2025, meeting, grants site approval for the construction of 50 townhouse units at the southwest corner of North Pine Island Road and Southgate Boulevard.

The project, known as Woodmont Port D, will consist of eight two-story buildings, each featuring three to four bedrooms. This development marks a shift from the site's previous commercial zoning, which had been in place for nearly a decade but failed to attract viable commercial interest. In January, the city commission amended the land use designation from commercial to low-medium residential, paving the way for this new housing initiative.

The site plan includes essential community features such as a pool, cabana area, and a tot lot for families. Additionally, the developers plan to enhance the landscape by planting 413 trees and 1,670 shrubs, creating a buffer with existing residential areas through strategic landscaping and a reconfigured lake.

The project aims to meet the growing demand for housing in Tamarac while ensuring that the new community integrates well with its surroundings. The development is expected to provide much-needed residential options in the area, contributing to the city's ongoing efforts to revitalize and repurpose underutilized land.
