Woodman Country Club Inc seeks approval for 50 townhouse units in Tamarac

The Tamarac Planning Board meeting on September 3, 2025, focused on a significant proposal for the development of Woodmont Pod D, a site plan submitted by Doctor Horton, Inc., representing Woodman Country Club Inc. The plan seeks approval for the construction of eight two-story townhouse buildings, totaling 50 dwelling units, on a 4.31-acre property located at the southeast corner of North Pine Island Road and Southgate Boulevard.

The area surrounding the proposed development includes the Southgate Boulevard Linear Park to the north, the Wynmont Country Club to the south, and additional recreational zoning to the east. The west side of the property faces the Cypress Commons shopping center, which is designated as Mixed Use Commercial.

The development has undergone several zoning and land use changes in recent years. In June 2014, the city commission approved amendments to the future land use plan, transitioning parts of the Wynmont Country Club from commercial recreation to low residential. The Woodmont Pod D site was also rezoned from commercial to neighborhood commercial, aligning with the new Land Development Code.

Most recently, on January 22, 2025, the City Commission adopted a small-scale local land use plan amendment, changing the designation of Woodmont Pod D from commercial to low medium residential. This amendment included the allocation of 50 flexibility units and allowed for the proposed residential townhome use. The zoning classification was subsequently changed to R3, multifamily residential, which permits the intended development.

Additionally, a plat has been submitted to subdivide the property for the townhome project, pending administrative approval in accordance with recent legislative changes. The proposed Woodmont Pod D development aims to enhance the residential landscape of Tamarac, contributing to the area's housing options.
