Parks Director Adam Robinson unveils Founders Park Dog Park relocation plan

The Queen Creek Town Council meeting on September 3, 2025, focused on the upcoming relocation and enhancement of the town's dog park, now named "Pocket Park For Pups." Parks and Recreation Director Adam Robinson presented the project, which is necessitated by the construction of a new police headquarters on the current dog park site.

Robinson explained that construction fences will soon be erected, prompting the need for community updates to address resident inquiries. The new dog park will be situated across the street at Founders Park, effectively doubling the size of the existing facility and significantly increasing parking availability. This relocation aims to maintain service levels for dog owners while improving the overall experience with enhanced amenities.

Key improvements include separate entrances for large and small dogs, increased shade structures, and a design that allows for better turf maintenance. The innovative layout will enable one side of the park to be closed for maintenance while the other remains open, ensuring a consistently enjoyable environment for users. Robinson emphasized the importance of shade, noting past complaints about the lack of it in the current park.

The project is expected to begin construction in the coming weeks, with a completion target set for mid-February 2026. The council also discussed outreach efforts to inform nearby residents about the changes and addressed concerns regarding the impact on the Founders Day celebration, which will be relocated to Frontier Family Park.
