Southeast Tech boosts student success with enhanced academic resources and community support

Southeast Tech School Board has made significant strides in enhancing student support services, as highlighted in their recent meeting on September 3, 2025. The board reported a remarkable increase in student engagement with the Academic Resource Center (ARC), which saw 6,800 touch points last year, a substantial rise from just 243 in previous years. This growth reflects the institution's commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment.

The board emphasized the importance of differentiated tutoring, which now includes intentional workshops and peer-led study tables. These initiatives have not only improved academic support but also helped students feel more comfortable seeking assistance. The collaboration among tutors, faculty, and work-study students has been pivotal in retaining quality tutors, particularly retired teachers who bring valuable experience to the program.

In addition to academic resources, the board addressed the pressing issue of student financial crises. They reported an increase in students facing financial hardships and highlighted a partnership with Feeding South Dakota to ensure the campus pantry remains stocked.
