Huntington Senior Center Transition Complete as Facility Management Shifts to Serta

The Huntington Senior Center project reached a significant milestone during the recent Emery County Local Building Authority meeting, as officials confirmed the completion of all bills and the handover of management to Serta. This transition marks the end of a lengthy process involving contractors and engineers, with the final invoices now set to be processed to cover landscaping costs.

In a unanimous vote, the board ratified the bills already paid, ensuring all financial obligations are settled. Board member Jensen emphasized the importance of this step, stating, “We’ve paid all the bills, and to do that, we had to ratify all the change orders.” This approval included final change orders related to the project, which encompassed necessary updates like parking lot repainting.

The meeting also addressed a funding request from the Emery County Library Board, with a proposal for $135,334 to support various library projects, including essential upgrades at the Huntington Library. These improvements aim to enhance accessibility, particularly by replacing flooring that currently poses challenges for individuals with assistive devices. The total estimated cost for the library projects stands at $203,000, with the library board seeking a partnership to match funding.

As the board moves forward with these initiatives, the focus remains on ensuring that community facilities are not only completed but also accessible and efficient for all residents.
