County Faces Recycling Challenges Under Oregon's Modernization Act with Rimrock Partnership

They noted that essential equipment, such as forklifts and balers, is not covered under the current funding structure, complicating the county's ability to meet the new requirements.

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) oversees the recycling program, but the convoluted nature of the regulations has led to confusion among local officials. They reported receiving conflicting information from different sources, making it difficult to navigate the new system effectively.

Despite these challenges, Rimrock Recycling remains committed to partnering with the county to fulfill the recycling requirements. The county court emphasized the need for clearer guidelines and support from state agencies to ensure successful implementation of the recycling modernization act. As the deadline for compliance approaches, local officials are working diligently to address these issues and find viable solutions for their communities.
