Montgomery County Public Schools Board Approves Three Key Administrative Appointments

The Montgomery County Board of Education held a work session on September 4, 2025, focusing on administrative appointments and public engagement. The meeting began with a pledge of allegiance and introductions from board members, establishing a quorum for the session.

One of the key highlights was the approval of three significant administrative appointments. The board unanimously approved the appointment of Malaika Brown as the executive director in the division of Equity and Organizational Development. Brown, who has been with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) for 20 years, expressed her commitment to advancing equitable outcomes for all students.

Next, Jada Langston was appointed as the director in the department of special education services. Langston has five years of experience with MCPS, including roles as an assistant principal and principal at the John L. Gildner Regional Institute. She aims to continue her service to students with disabilities in her new position.

The board also approved Anthony Tucci as the director in the division of transportation services. Tucci has 16 years of experience within MCPS and will oversee fleet, finance, IT, and field trip operations.

Following the appointments, the board opened the floor for public comments, encouraging community input on policies and practices. The board reminded attendees of the importance of maintaining decorum during the public comment period, emphasizing that personal grievances should be addressed through proper channels rather than during the meeting.
