Amador County is set to enhance its broadband infrastructure significantly after the Board of Supervisors approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Golden State Connect Authority (GSCA) during their meeting on September 9, 2025. This agreement will facilitate the construction of a fiber-optic network across the county, aiming to provide high-speed internet access to underserved rural areas.

Pat Blacklock, CEO of GSCA, highlighted the urgency of the project, noting that the county is poised to receive $57 million in state funds, complemented by an additional $10 million in municipal bond financing.
