In a recent meeting of the Parkland Community Advisory Board, five local students were selected as the new Youth Ambassadors for the 2026 program, marking a significant step in engaging young residents in local governance. The selection process involved reviewing 13 applications, showcasing the talent and commitment of youth in the community.
The chosen ambassadors are Aidan Cadiz, Hadassah Ebrahim, Rania Ismail, Gia Mittal, and Daniel Rosenthal. Each student will receive a $2,500 scholarship as part of their commitment to participate in educational activities about local government and contribute to community projects. This initiative not only provides financial support but also encourages students to actively engage with their community through events and surveys.
The board emphasized the importance of commitment, requiring the ambassadors to attend meetings and fulfill their responsibilities. In the event that any ambassador cannot meet these obligations, alternates will be available to step in, ensuring that the program remains robust and effective.
The names of the new ambassadors will be presented to the city commission at their upcoming meeting on Friday, September 12, at 5:01 PM. This presentation is part of a larger agenda that includes the first reading of the city’s budget, highlighting the integration of youth involvement in civic matters.
The selection of these ambassadors reflects the board's dedication to fostering leadership among young people in Parkland, providing them with opportunities to learn about and influence their local government. As the community looks forward to the contributions of these students, the program aims to strengthen the connection between youth and civic engagement in Broward County.
