A new initiative to enhance student engagement in school meals was unveiled during the St. Bernard Parish School Board's General Committee Meeting on September 9, 2025. Board members discussed plans for a scaled-down food show, allowing students to sample and grade various food options. In addition to the food initiative, the board confirmed the continuation of the Community Eligibility Program (CEP), which provides free meals to students. This program has been renewed for an additional two years, ensuring that students will continue to receive nutritious meals at no cost.

The meeting also addressed personnel changes, with the return of experienced educators to fill key positions. Notably, Robin Acosta, a retired teacher, will rejoin the staff, along with Liz Winslow, a former principal and gifted teacher, who will take over for another retiring educator. Their return is seen as a significant asset to the school community.
