Morgan County, which experienced two major disaster declarations in recent years, stands to benefit significantly from this funding. The first declaration, related to severe storms and tornadoes in March 2023, and the second, linked to Hurricane Helene in September 2024, positions the county as a prime candidate for these grants.

However, not all projects will qualify. The EDA has specified that residential projects, community amenities like swimming pools, and initiatives supporting casinos or general government functions will not be eligible for funding. Instead, the focus remains on critical infrastructure improvements that can enhance the quality of life and economic opportunities in the region.
