After months of preparation, the road was successfully chipped and sealed last week, marking a major improvement from its previous state, which was riddled with craters. Mayor Strozak praised the project, highlighting the contributions of the street department and the county engineers, noting that the work not only enhances the road's longevity but also serves as a training opportunity for county staff.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the city celebrated the opening of Rocky Roxy's Emporium at the Shops at 374, a project spearheaded by local entrepreneur Mr. Martin. This marks the first of several new businesses set to open in the area, with Kianga's Creations expected to join the lineup soon. The excitement was palpable during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, as city officials expressed optimism about the economic boost these new ventures will bring to downtown Elyria.

In other council discussions, the Law Director reported on the signing of an amendment to the economic development agreement with DVR Commercial Realty, as well as updates on a school compensation agreement. However, a proposed historic landmark designation for a local property has been tabled until December, following legal complications involving the property's receiver.
