The district initially estimated $3.8 million in tax revenues but received a revised estimate of nearly $5 million from the Illinois Department of Revenue. While only $900,000 of this increase has been incorporated into the budget, it marks a positive development for the district's finances.
However, the budget presentation also highlighted a potential misrepresentation of surplus funds. A $1 million donation earmarked for a new softball field is included as revenue in the operating fund but will be transferred to the capital projects fund for construction expenses.
