The Town of Fuquay-Varina is gearing up for a vibrant community celebration as the Board of Commissioners highlighted several upcoming events during their recent meeting. Among the most anticipated is the annual community festival, Celebrate Fuquay Varina, scheduled for Saturday, October 7, from 10 AM to 4 PM in the Downtown Fuquay District. This festival promises a day filled with activities, food, and entertainment, including a concert featuring the band Bounce on Thursday evening.
In addition to the festival, the town will host a "Coffee with a Cop" event on Wednesday, October 1, at The Village At Marquise Station, providing residents an opportunity to engage with local law enforcement in a casual setting.
Commissioner Haynes shared his enthusiasm for recent community events, including the kickoff for the emergency food pantry's capital campaign, which aims to break ground on a new facility within the next year. He also attended a cultural event hosted by the Indian Association of Fuquay Varina, showcasing the town's diverse community engagement.
The meeting also addressed the ongoing growth of local businesses, with several new establishments opening in recent weeks, contributing to the town's commercial tax base. The Fuquay River Emergency Food Pantry continues to play a vital role in the community, providing hundreds of meals weekly, and will host a pancake dinner fundraiser on Friday, September 22, from 5 PM to 7 PM at First United Methodist Church.
The Board emphasized the importance of community remembrance, particularly regarding the annual 9/11 memorial service, which received positive feedback from attendees. The town remains committed to honoring this significant day and encouraging volunteerism among residents.
As Fuquay-Varina prepares for these events, the Board of Commissioners is focused on fostering community spirit and supporting local initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all residents.
