Waukee City Council has approved a new development project that will enhance local amenities and provide additional commercial space. During the meeting on September 15, 2025, council members reviewed plans for a two-story building located at the northwest corner of Grand Prairie Parkway and Southeast Esker Ridge Drive, covering just over two acres.
The proposed structure will house the Community Choice Credit Union, a restaurant, and a flexible space, totaling more than 12,000 square feet and reaching a height of 28 feet. The design includes main entrances on the west side, with the restaurant situated on the north side featuring an outdoor patio. The second floor will accommodate the flex space, while a trash enclosure and a drive-through for the credit union will be positioned at the site’s north and southwest corners, respectively.
The project will also enhance local infrastructure, with a 10-foot wide trail planned along the south side of the site and an existing five-foot sidewalk on the north side. Public utilities will be integrated, and stormwater management will be addressed through an underground detention facility in the parking lot.
City staff recommended approval of both the final plat and site plan, emphasizing that the development meets all parking and landscaping requirements. The council's decision marks a significant step toward improving community services and commercial options in Waukee, reflecting ongoing efforts to foster growth and accessibility in the area.
