Ramona Mercado, a local resident and member of La Lupe, passionately addressed the court, urging Commissioner Roberto Villareal to support the installation of public lighting in their neighborhood.

"We want them to be safe when they go to school and come back from school," she stated, reflecting the community's deep concern for the safety of their children and all residents who travel early or late for work. She presented a petition signed by neighbors, expressing hope that the county would extend the same support to Christie States as it has to other colonias.

In addition to the lighting issue, the meeting included discussions on various funding approvals, including grants for juvenile mental health and drug court programs, as well as forensic evidence testing.
