The Cary Village Board meeting on September 16, 2025, highlighted significant community contributions and safety initiatives. Peter Adams, representing the Cary Grove Crime Stoppers, detailed the organization's ongoing efforts since its inception in 1983. The group has donated over $7,000 to local causes in the past six months, including a $2,000 contribution to the National Night Out event and $2,200 for honor guard uniforms for the Cary Police Department. Additionally, Crime Stoppers has awarded more than $10,000 in scholarships to Cary Grove High School students over the years.
Adams emphasized the importance of community support and encouraged residents to assist with sponsorships for their annual fundraising golf outing. He noted that the organization aims to enhance its visibility and impact within the community.
The meeting also included two proclamations. The first declared September 15-21, 2025, as Rail Safety Week, recognizing the importance of safety at railroad crossings, especially given the 103 crashes reported in Illinois in 2024. The Cary Police Department will participate in this initiative to promote safety education.
The second proclamation designated September 2025 as Constitution Week, marking the 238th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution's drafting. Mayor Mark Kownacki urged residents to reflect on the significance of active citizenship and the enduring strength of the Constitution.
These discussions underscore the Village of Cary's commitment to community engagement and public safety initiatives.
