The Graham County P&Z Board of Commissioners convened on September 17, 2025, to discuss several zoning requests and updates from previous meetings. The session began with a request from Sandra Herrado to rezone a 0.8-acre property located at the southeast corner of Center Street and Second Avenue from unlimited manufacturing (MX) to a different designation. The motion to set this request for discussion at the next meeting was moved and seconded, receiving unanimous approval from the commissioners.
Following this, the board reviewed outcomes from the previous Board of Supervisors meeting. Notably, a special use permit request by Larry Wilson to create a private airstrip was favorably recommended by the P&Z Board and subsequently approved by the supervisors.
Additionally, Lane Jensen's request to rezone a property from general land use to single-family residential (RR) to facilitate the creation of a half-acre parcel for home construction was also approved. Clyde and Paula England's request to align zoning with the current use of their property was similarly supported and approved.
Shawna Taylor's proposal to rezone a 5.5-acre portion of land along Highway 191 from general land use to commercial manufacturing for the development of storage units received a favorable recommendation and was approved as well.
The meeting concluded with the approval of three new road names: Holden Street in Central, Quartz Ridge Road south of town intersecting with Swift Trail Road, and Dakota, a north-south road.
Overall, the meeting highlighted a series of successful zoning requests and the board's continued efforts to facilitate development in Graham County. The next meeting is anticipated to further address the rezoning request from Herrado.
