Montgomery Township School District kicked off the 2025 school year with a series of exciting initiatives and recognitions during the Board of Education meeting on September 16. Notably, Montgomery High School has been designated as a Unified Champion School, celebrating its commitment to inclusivity through sports and leadership programs that unite students with and without intellectual disabilities. This recognition highlights the school’s dedication to fostering a culture of respect and belonging among its students.
In an effort to enhance academic opportunities, the district announced that the PSAT will be administered during the school day on October 21, with all tenth and eleventh graders eligible to participate. To further support students, Montgomery High School will cover the costs for all eleventh graders taking the test, ensuring equitable access to potential National Merit Scholarship qualifications. A special delayed opening schedule will be implemented on that day to accommodate the testing.
The community is also invited to participate in the upcoming Homecoming Football Game on October 3, where the turf will be officially named Zoran Village Field in honor of a beloved community member. This event aims to foster school spirit and community engagement.
The meeting also highlighted the positive start to the school year across all district schools. Upper Middle School (UMS) and Lower Middle School (LMS) reported smooth transitions for students, with UMS hosting a successful back-to-school night and LMS celebrating the collaborative efforts of students, families, and teachers. Village Elementary School welcomed nine new staff members and hosted a Newcomers Reception to integrate new families into the community.
Orchard Hill School emphasized building a strong classroom community, with teachers facilitating activities that encourage students to share their backgrounds and values. The district's focus on core values and behavioral expectations aims to create a supportive environment for all students.
As the school year progresses, the Montgomery Township School District remains committed to fostering inclusivity, academic excellence, and community engagement, setting a positive tone for the months ahead.
