The second story highlighted Officer Demond Barnett, who, along with his field training officer, Jackson Watts, responded to a call about a four-year-old child found alone in a park. Officer Barnett, drawing from his personal experience as a parent of a child with autism, was able to connect with the nonverbal child and provide comfort during a distressing situation. Dispatch supervisor Caitlin Geismond also played a crucial role by bringing a spare diaper and staying with the child until Child Protective Services arrived. Both Officer Barnett and Geismond received the chief's challenge coin for their compassion and professionalism.
