In a recent Special Magistrate Hearing held in Fort Pierce, the city’s code enforcement officer, Charmaine Kirkland, presented a case regarding a parking violation that occurred on Melody Lane. The case, identified as PK2025-279, involved a citation issued to Simone Sharmalee Cito for parking in a restricted area during a special event.
The violation took place on June 6, 2025, coinciding with the city's monthly Friday Fest, an event that prohibits parking in designated areas. Officer Kirkland confirmed that the citation was issued after the necessary signage was posted that morning, indicating that the vehicle was parked in violation of the rules. The total fine for the violation amounted to $78, which included a $50 citation fee, a $10 administrative fee, and an $18 late fee.
During the hearing, Officer Kirkland provided photographic evidence of the violation, which she confirmed accurately depicted the situation as she observed it. Despite the city’s efforts, there was no response from the vehicle owner, Cito, regarding the citation.
This case highlights the ongoing enforcement of parking regulations during special events in Fort Pierce, emphasizing the city's commitment to maintaining order and accessibility during community gatherings. The outcome of this hearing will likely influence future compliance with parking regulations, particularly during events that draw large crowds. As the city continues to host such events, the enforcement of these rules remains crucial for ensuring public safety and convenience.
