Residents of LaGrange may soon see new development as the Oldham County Board of Adjustments discussed a front yard building line limit variance during their meeting on September 18, 2025. The variance request pertains to a property located at 1818 Zachary Drive, which is currently an undeveloped lot exceeding one acre in size.
The property is zoned R2 Residential, where the standard front yard setback requirement is 35 feet. However, due to the specific regulations of the Woodridge Estate subdivision, the recorded building line limit is set at 50 feet. The applicant is seeking a variance of 15 feet to allow for a front yard setback of 35 feet. This adjustment is necessary due to the lot's topography and the placement of a septic system.
The proposal was officially posted on the county's website on August 29, with notifications sent to adjoining property owners on September 2. A public notice was also published in the Oldham Era on September 11, ensuring community awareness of the request.
The board's discussion highlighted the importance of balancing zoning regulations with practical considerations for property development. If approved, this variance could pave the way for the construction of a single-family residence, contributing to the growth and development of the area.
As the board continues to evaluate the request, the outcome will be closely watched by local residents and stakeholders, reflecting the ongoing evolution of LaGrange's residential landscape.
