The Oxnard Planning Commission recently reviewed several significant residential and mixed-use development projects aimed at addressing the community's housing needs. Among the highlights was the North Shore at Mandalay Bay, which will feature 183 single-family residences, including 109 detached condominiums. This development, located at Harbor Boulevard and Fifth Street, is currently in the grading phase, with completion timelines yet to be determined.

Another notable project is the Edding Road Apartments, which has already been completed and offers 58 units, 57 of which are designated as 100% affordable housing. This project also includes a community area that will provide essential services for residents. The Pleasant Valley Apartments, still in the planning stage, will provide 48 units with a mix of affordable options and amenities designed for community engagement.

The Lockwood senior apartments, both Lockwood 1 and Lockwood 2, are under construction and will provide a total of 341 affordable units for active seniors, with expected completion by early 2026. The Encanto development, which includes 27 single-family homes, is also progressing, with an anticipated completion by fall of this year.

In addition to these residential projects, the commission discussed mixed-use developments, including the Navigation Center, which will offer 56 affordable units and a permanent homeless shelter. This project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in 2025.

The meeting underscored the city's commitment to increasing affordable housing options and enhancing community spaces, reflecting ongoing efforts to meet the diverse needs of Oxnard residents. As these projects move forward, they promise to significantly impact the local housing landscape and provide essential services to the community.
