The Fort Thomas Independent School District's choir program is set to launch an exciting year of musical performances, as highlighted during the recent Choir Concert held on September 18. Chris Eaton, the director of choirs at Highlands High School, opened the event by expressing gratitude for the audience's presence and emphasizing the concert's purpose: to provide students with more opportunities to showcase their talents.
Eaton noted that the concert was inspired by student feedback from the previous year, where many expressed a desire for more solo performance opportunities. This initiative not only allows students to shine but also gives Eaton a chance to perform alongside them, enhancing the community's connection to the arts.
The concert also served as a kickoff for the choir's fundraising efforts, with donation bins placed throughout the venue. Eaton explained that contributions would support various activities, including field trips and a planned choir trip to Chicago in May. He encouraged attendees to give generously, stating that every contribution, no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated.
As the evening progressed, the audience was treated to a variety of performances, beginning with Eaton's rendition of the "Counts Aria" from Figaro, followed by student performances that showcased the depth of talent within the choir program. This event not only marks the start of a new choir year but also reinforces the importance of community support in fostering the arts in education.
