Clatsop County is enhancing access to mental health services with the introduction of multiple pathways for individuals seeking outpatient care. During the Human Services Advisory Council meeting on September 22, 2025, officials outlined a comprehensive approach to streamline access to essential services provided by Clatsop Behavioral Health (CBH).
The meeting highlighted 12 access points for individuals to engage with mental health services, including an online enrollment packet available in both English and Spanish, direct calls to engagement specialists, and a rapid access clinic located at the Bond Street office. This clinic, which operates Monday through Friday, allows individuals to receive assessments without needing an appointment, significantly lowering barriers for those who may be uninsured or facing financial difficulties.
The rapid access clinic is particularly crucial for low-income residents, as it provides immediate support and connects individuals to additional community resources, such as food assistance and rehabilitation services. The clinic's hours have recently been extended to accommodate more clients, with assessments available until 3 PM.
Another key service discussed was the mobile crisis team, which responds to mental health emergencies within a two-hour window. This team conducts crisis assessments and connects individuals to ongoing support, ensuring that those in urgent need receive timely care.
Additionally, the meeting addressed medication management within mental health services, emphasizing the importance of thorough assessments before prescribing medications. Clients with serious and persistent mental illness are prioritized to ensure they receive the necessary care without delay.
As Clatsop County continues to expand its mental health services, including plans to introduce additional support in South County, community members can expect improved access to vital resources aimed at enhancing overall well-being. The ongoing efforts reflect a commitment to addressing mental health needs and ensuring that residents have the support they require.
