CJ Wilson LLC is seeking an additional $12,770 for the 2025 and 2026 Polar Express train ride production, bringing the total contract amount to $128,505,145. Notably, the company is not requesting retroactive payment for the 2024 season.
Carla Wilson of CJ Wilson LLC addressed the commission, explaining that the extra funding primarily covers staffing costs due to the addition of extra nights for the event. She highlighted challenges faced last year, including equipment failures that led to overspending on sound equipment. Instead of asking the commission for help, the company absorbed those costs to enhance the experience.
This year, Wilson announced improvements, including upgraded serving equipment for hot cocoa, moving away from disposable cups to more durable stainless steel trays and melamine cups. Additionally, new characters will be introduced to enhance the immersive experience for attendees.
Wilson emphasized the importance of these upgrades, noting that licensing requirements from Warner Brothers are pushing for consistency across productions. She expressed confidence in the budget adjustments, stating that her husband, Wayne Wilson, who serves as CFO, reviewed the finances to ensure the necessary changes could be made.
The commission expressed support for the proposed enhancements, recognizing the value they bring to the Polar Express experience.
